How has the tour been so far?
Ed: It's been fantastic hasn't it Karl?
Karl: Yep, brilliant!
Ed: Most amazing time we've had. Yeah. We've had the van broken into, tires slashed, and we got drunk a couple of times. Wooo. laughs
Karl: Only a couple of times mind! laughs
Ed: Yeah it's been good though, we've been busy, we've got a single out at the moment called S.K.P and City Of Stains.
How long have you been together for as a band?
Ed: About eighteen months I think!
Drew walks in and sits on the table.
What do you prefer, recording in the studio or playing live?
Ed: Live, definitely!
Karl: We are a live band, I like recording in the studio but performing live is definitely what we do best! They're different experiences completely!
Drew: That's like being given a gun and told you had to shoot one of your parents, who would you shoot, as they both totally fufill different needs if you get me. No? OK then.. I guess live though, when theres a lot of people there, as it's more of an interactive thing whereas recording is more of a creative thing.laughs
Jamie from Reuben walks in and proceeds to try and make as much noise as possible whilst doing heavy metal horns at everyone......
Who would you say you're influences are?
Jamie: REUBEN!!!!!!!!!
Ed: laughsOooh. Errrrrrmm...... We listen to a vast variety of different styles of music ranging from old to new, so I think it takes all different aspects from all the different types. We listen to all kinds of crazy shit, anything that's got a good edge.
What was the first gig that you went to?
Ed: laughs First gig I ever went to was 'Shaking Stevens'! laughs
Karl: Oooh god what was mine.. I can't remember off the top of my head what my first gig was....I think it might've been ACDC!
Ed: Aaaah you're so cool, it's so unfair!!! What was yours? Errmm.... Backstreet Boys.
Ed: laughs You're younger than I thought then!!!!
What is your favourite song of yours?
Ed: I don't have one....
Karl: Mine changes from day to day, all depends on my mood!
Drew: That's a really really hard question.... That's like saying 'Who's your favourite friend, or your favourite parent or your favourite movie!' erm.... dammit..... my honest answer is 'I don't know!"
What are your ambitions for this band, what would you like to be doing in a years time?
Karl: We'd just like longevity really! In a years time.... Ideally still playing , still doing live gigs, still writing, still playing, still together, but doing bigger shows, seeing different places, with different bands. The bands like a vehicle for us really to do different things, see different places.
Drew: laughs We want to try different stage outfits as well.... Geoff walks in
Geoff: Oooh, interview, interview!
Drew: Yeah, yeah, different clothes man, like we want to get Ed here in a tie, no shirt, aviators, and a policemans hat, and Karl in a pink tutu with those ballerina shoes with those little lace-up numbers round the ankles, and I'm gonna wear a full on wedding dress! Geoff here is gonna be in a wizards outfit but with two magic wands as drumsticks.... laughs
If you could tour with any band past or present who would you tour with?
Karl: Can we reel off a few? OK then... Led Zeppelin, the Jam, The Who, Nirvana, just for the experiences of it really.
Drew: Europe..
Geoff: yeah, Europe! Bon Jovi...
Karl: Steps. laughs
Drew: The Tweenies, like Hear'Say are touring with the Tweenies! Apparently they thought they would be headlining with The Tweenies supporting....
Drew: Noooo wounded!
Geoff: Knock Knock?
Drew: Who's there?
Geoff: Hear'Say
Drew: Hear'Say who?
Geoff: Thats showbiz!!!laughs I look confused much to Geoff's amusement, then realise 30 seconds later, which he found even funnier
Ed: Are you going to ask us if we like cake or crisps? Do you like cake or crisps?
Ed: I like cakes!
Geoff: I'm more of a crisps man.
Drew: I'm more of a crisps man as well....
Karl: I'm on a diet, always have been!
Ed: Chinese or Curry?
Drew: Curry.
Geoff: Curry.
Karl: Chinese.
What has been the high point for you?
Drew: laughs Getting robbed! Getting burgled... sarcasm greaaaat! A WPC came round a dusted our van for fingerprints!
Ed: They shortly arrested Drew afterwards.. laughs
Drew: We survived leaving our van in alleys in god knows where, then pulled into a Holiday Inn with this massive floodlit car park with CCTV, and our van gets broken into!
What is the most rock'n'roll thing you've done?
Karl: I think most night on tour its going to bed with a herbal tea...
Ed: Horlicks!
Karl: And a fat one....
Geoff: Fat spliff that is!
Ed: What's the most rock'n'roll thing you've ever done Drew?
Drew: I can't say I'm sorry! laughs
Ed: Well I joined Friends Reunited which I thought was quite punk rock...
Geoff: Really? Did you reunite with any friends?
Ed: Well I did but I didn't really wanna speak to any of them, they're all tossers! laughs You just wanted to reunite with them to tell them to piss off again!
Ed: laughs Exactly!
What do you think you'd be doing if you weren't in this band?
Ed: I used to be a poet!
Drew:He used to pioneer black country jazz poetry laughs
Ed: Um.. yeah, it was called Ramabag! laughs
Drew: On a serious note, I almost studied third world and african studies, I was a bit of an activist I suppose so it would be something like that I guess, not that being in the band isn't worthwhile, but y'know..
Ed: That's very deep, very thought-provoking!I would probably work with kids like I used to and set up adventure playgrounds. Karl what would you do?
Karl: Race motorbikes probably..... or box!
What advice would you give to someone starting out in a band, anything that you wish you had known at the beginning?
Karl: Lots of things actually, theres lots of things you learn from the beginning, in my experience I didn't think it would be as difficult, but I think the only piece of advice I can think of that is crucial is to keep going through thick and thin.
Ed: and be honest about your music as well, expect it to change, but listen to other people but not all the time!
